They combine hardware and software resources to interconnect transmission equipment, facilitate voice and video communication, and process and store large volumes of data for commanding officers. Built around a separated classified and unclassified network architecture, they support connection through a range of transit resources, including satellite, GSM, fibre optic, and Ethernet links, and typically meet military standards for field deployment.
