OPTICAL FIBER COMPONENTS WITH NEW STANDARDS FOR OPTICAL CONNECTORS FOR SECURITY-CRITICAL APPLICATIONS

The project aims to deliver five binding results: two prototype measurement workstations—PRO1 (implementation of an 8-channel measurement workstation) and PRO2 (implementation of a 16-channel measurement workstation); PRO3 (prototype optical cable); PRO4 (handheld TEST-SET tester); and a verified manufacturing technology for the optical cable (OVT – optical cable production). The PRO1 and PRO2 results are supporting outcomes for measuring optical-cable properties in order to achieve PRO3 and OVT.

The primary objective is to produce the PRO3 prototype and the OVT, which concern a new type of optical cable designed for next-generation interconnect systems intended for use in data centers. The cable’s unique feature lies in the extraordinary minimization of the dimensions of all components used, resulting in maximum utilization of the capacity of standard data cabinets.
